Sixteen – SOAS and Babel meet in Jordan

Following on from the University of Westminster, London visit in early September, students from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) joined University of Babylon in their third visit to Jordan with Changing Lives between the 14th and 22nd of September.

This, our 16th program in only six years, featured engaging visits to Amman’s cultural hubs Darat al-Funoon and The National Gallery of Fine Arts as well as day of vibrant discussion and learning at the Jordan Media Institute.

University of Babylon and SOAS students worked well together throughout the trip to teach English to students at the Princess Basma Centre in Wahadne, Ajloun as well as preparing and delivering topical presentations about Jordan’s political, economic and historical context each evening.

The levels of shared learning and integration coming from the students’ mutually beneficial skills were very impressive and we look forward to bringing both universities and their students even closer together in the future.
